Laboratory Tests in Gran Canaria

At SUMMER CLINIC, we provide laboratory tests and rapid tests at our clinics in Playa del Inglés and San Agustín, in the south of Gran Canaria. We work with different types of samples, including blood, urine, stool and swabs, depending on the test required. Our services are available to both residents and tourists, and we can arrange tests requested by the patient, recommended by our doctors or prescribed by another healthcare professional.

Blood Tests and Other Samples

We perform blood tests from Monday to Friday, usually between 09:00 and 11:00. We recommend making an appointment, although walk-in blood tests may also be available. In addition to blood tests, we can arrange urine, stool, swab and other sample tests depending on the investigation required. Samples that require laboratory processing are sent to a specialised clinical laboratory with management systems certified according to ISO standards. Results are validated by qualified laboratory professionals before being issued. Our medical team also reviews the results before they are provided to the patient. Please contact us in advance to check whether your test requires fasting, special preparation or specific sample collection conditions.

Rapid Tests

We offer a range of rapid tests during our clinic opening hours, including tests for strep throat, COVID-19, influenza A and B, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), pregnancy, capillary blood glucose and INR testing from a drop of blood. Please contact our team to check the availability of the test you need.

Results and Medical Review

The time required to obtain results depends on the type of test requested. Many results may be available on the same day or the following day, while some specialised tests may take several days. Before being provided to the patient, the results are reviewed by a SUMMER CLINIC doctor. Results can be provided as a printed copy or, according to the patient’s preference, by email or WhatsApp.

What Laboratory Tests Can I Request?

You can come to SUMMER CLINIC with a test request or list provided by another doctor, or request the tests you need directly. We can arrange a wide range of laboratory tests using blood, urine, stool, swab and other samples, depending on the investigation required. If you are unsure which tests are appropriate for your situation, our doctors can assess your case and recommend the appropriate tests.

Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Testing

We offer testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) using different types of samples, depending on the tests required. Available tests include HIV, syphilis, hepatitis B and hepatitis C, as well as chlamydia and gonorrhoea. Depending on the infection being investigated, blood, urine or swab samples may be required. Our team can advise you on the appropriate tests and type of sample needed in each case.

Price Quote Before Testing

The price depends on the tests requested. You can contact us in advance for a price quote before having your blood sample taken or undergoing the tests. If you have a laboratory test request from another doctor, you can send it to us so that our team can check the tests requested and provide you with a price quote.
