Wound Care and Outpatient Procedures in Gran Canaria
At SUMMER CLINIC, we provide wound care, follow-up treatment and a range of outpatient medical procedures for adults and children at our clinics in Playa del Inglés and San Agustín.
These procedures are carried out by our medical team after assessing each individual case. We can treat and monitor wounds, perform sutures and suture removal, treat certain abscesses and localised skin infections, and carry out other procedures that can be managed on an outpatient basis at our clinics.
Wound Care, Follow-up and Sutures
We assess and treat wounds, including cleaning, disinfection, wound dressing, bandaging and sutures when indicated.
We also provide wound follow-up, dressing changes and suture removal.
When a wound or injury requires diagnostic tests, surgery or other hospital-based care, we advise the patient on referral to the appropriate healthcare facility.
Incision and Drainage of Abscesses
We assess abscesses and other localised infections of the skin and superficial tissues that may require medical treatment.
When indicated and when it can be safely performed on an outpatient basis, we can carry out incision and drainage of an abscess, as well as subsequent wound care and follow-up.
The doctor will determine in each case whether additional treatment is required or whether, due to the characteristics, location or extent of the infection, referral to a hospital is more appropriate.
Bandages and Immobilisation
For certain injuries, we can apply bandages and immobilisation to protect the affected area and temporarily restrict movement.
Depending on the case, different types of bandages, support devices or slings may be used.
Ear Irrigation and Earwax Removal
We assess problems such as a blocked-ear sensation, reduced hearing, ear discomfort and possible earwax build-up or blockage.
When indicated, we can perform ear irrigation and earwax removal at the clinic.
Before the procedure, the doctor examines the ear to determine whether irrigation or another technique is appropriate in each case.
Nebulisation and Respiratory Treatment
We provide nebuliser treatments to administer certain inhaled medications when medically indicated.
The doctor will assess the symptoms beforehand and determine the appropriate treatment for each patient.
Administration of Medication and IV Therapy
When medically indicated, we can administer treatments at our clinics, including intramuscular and intravenous medication.
We also provide intravenous (IV) therapy when indicated, with treatment determined individually according to the patient’s clinical condition and needs.
Vaccination
We can administer vaccines when medically indicated and available, including flu and tetanus vaccination, as well as other vaccines that may be required.
We can also assess certain vaccination needs related to travel, depending on the destination, the patient’s circumstances and vaccine availability.
Electrocardiogram (ECG)
We perform electrocardiograms (ECGs) when they form part of the patient’s medical assessment.
The results are interpreted together with the patient’s symptoms and clinical examination. If a condition requiring hospital care or specialist assessment is suspected, we will recommend referral to the appropriate healthcare facility.
Foreign Body Removal
In certain cases, we can perform foreign body removal when the location and characteristics of the foreign body allow the procedure to be carried out safely in an outpatient medical clinic.
The doctor will assess each case beforehand and determine whether it can be treated at the clinic or requires other medical facilities.
